I am not dead!
I have just been really busy with the Baby. I have gotten a little hobbying done and still have some battle reports to write. I hope to be able to find time in my life to come back here soon.

All Caught Up
So I may have forgotten my hobby bag at work, and therefore be unable to work on anything today, but at least I got all my backlogged write ups posted. Thats 15 posts (16 if you count this one) that will go throughout next month. I still need to determine the October CoC missions and write a post for them. Feeling much better about it, as the SAWS battle reports are from games I played in May (still the last games I've played) and have were written in June.
To end up the year I'll have at least 2 CoC mission reports (Oct and Dec), Infernal Zoo and NorthStar even reports, and maybe some more hobby reports.

2013 End of Year Wrap Up
So in doing this blog I have gained a lot of respect for those who did
it before me. It sure does take a
lot of time to do a battle report, even one to the low standards I make it
to. I figure I spend at least 4-5
hours writing about the 5 games, more if you consider lists, missions and the
other posts I do for each event.
Phew.
The hobby posts are much easier.
Most of that time is spent doing the actual hobbying, which I would be
doing anyways. Then it’s just a
few snaps with my phone on my desk (no fancy light box, real camera BS here)
and a few minutes to provide context, usually while watching TV before bed
(since I do most of my hobbying at night).
What I’ve found the hardest is time. I want to post the missions and lists and what not near when
the event occurs, and yet I may spend the three to six months before doing all
the hobby work for it. I early
debated just saving the hobby posts and fitting them in around the event
between the tactical posts and the battle reports. After a few months though, I already had a big backlog of
posts, and with the exception of two weeks of dry period (which was only dry
because I had to cancel a trip to a tournament) the back log was constant. It’s crazy looking back. Like after Adepticon, I pushed those
battle reports out really fast, and then a month later they were still posting
while everything else I had done was just waiting. So in the end I decided to drop the hobby posts in as I was
doing them, even if it mean that there were gaps in the story or it came off
out of order. I figure no one
reads it anyways.
I still haven’t done any promoting of this site, and probably
won’t. I did add it to my
signature the few times I post on the skaven forum website, and I haven’t
hidden it – telling my opponents or anyone else who has asked. What I haven’t done is signed up for
any of the reposting sites, like the BOLS list. Maybe I will… there were a few times where I almost did.
2014 will probably see a few less games. 2013 I got in 60+ games. 2014 I will probably come in closer
to 50. I decided that I will not
be attending QCR in 2014 and I won’t be attending the CoCs – as I will be the
new TO. So less posts about games,
and maybe a few posts about learning to run an event. I will be attending Adepticon, and am signed up for 14
games. SAWS is also a go, through
I won’t be playing Chaos Dwarves as I’ve missed too many hobby days. For Adepticon I will be taking
High/Dark Elves, so I will probably end up picking one of those for SAWS.
Happy New Years.

Introduction
So welcome. I doubt this will become a blog that’s anything more special than any other. Mostly it’s for me to track things and maybe force myself to keep on target.
So a little about myself to start, I guess. My name is Josh and I live in California. I am a founding member of a club called Guns ‘N Warpstone. We hold ourselves to be tournament gamers, but I’m not sure that’s true. What we are is a group of guys who likes to play Warhammer. I’m a mostly fantasy player, and play solid Skaven since I started in 2007. I technically have both a Dark Elves and Ogres as well, though my ogres are in fact rat ogres and my Dark Elves are Eshin themed Skaven. I might do other posts where I include some pictures. I haven’t actually ever played the rat ogres as ogres, so it may turn out to have been an aborted project.
As I write this I’m preparing to leave for Waaagh!PACA, a 2,000 point event in Wisconsin (Though it has been posted afterwards). I think it’s too late for a before post, but if I can stick with this thing long enough I’ll try to do an after. 2012 was really the year I stepped up my tournament play. Besides hitting 5 of 6 of my local game store’s events, I played in a number of others, including; Broadside Bash, Bay Area Open, Adepticon Championships, SAWS, Quake City Rumble, Celisticon one day, Alamo and Northstar. I did fairly well, won at least 2 of my local events and took the overall for the year, won BAO, went undefeated and best general at SAWS, went 4-1 at QCR and took top Skaven at Northstar at something around 12th.
This year I plan on repeating most of those events (missing Broadside Bash and probably Alamo) and picking up Waaagh!PACA.
Other games I play besides Warhammer fantasy… not much. I used to play 40k fairly regularly but sold my chaos marine army just before 6th came out and my multi-g-d unit became unplayable. I’ve recently used some of my event winnings to pick up Grey Knights, but I’ve designed the list to be 31 models at 2500 just so I’ll have an army to play in the event I feel like playing 40k. I haven’t built the list to maximize competitiveness, though Paladins are good (note: at list design I hadn’t yet read the entire army book or 6th edition rules).
My painting hasn’t been to the highest level in the past. I have over 20k in Skaven and even painting a unit of 40 doesn’t excite me much. I’m hoping that with my Grey Knights I’ll be more incentivized to paint to a higher standard. My projects right now are the Grey Knights and switching over my Skaven to some nice resin bases. I also love to convert much more than paint, and my past projects have focused on that aspect. I’m sure there will be more on those projects, along with some stuff on what I already have in future posts.
Well, thanks for reading if you made it this far and we’ll see if I follow through.
