Nearing Fully Assembled

Second half of the greenstuff and shoulder pads done. Tomorrow heads if I remember to find and pack them. Also need to finish the flamer backpack.

Glad the first part of this project is done. i paid for an event in February, 1850, and would like to have my own models ready in time. Its going to be tight.

Infernal Zoo - The Missions

This event has 6 missions, rolled randomly for each round, except from rounds 3 and 4.

Round 3: Dragon Blood (Watchtower)
All dragons gain frenzy.

There is a dragons nest in the center of the table.  The next provides Hard Cover to and Stubborn models INSIDE.  It is dangerous terrain that must at the beginning of the turn regardless of whether the unit moved or not.

Controlling nest is worth 500 points and is determined by the number of wounds (based on profile not remaining) inside, with dragons counting double.

Round 4: Here Be Giants (Battleline)
All Giants gain Always Strikes First, Regeneration and Stand Your Ground (Bone Grinder gets 6+ not 4+).

Any model with the Large Target rule [I have 3] are worth 100 points if alive at the end of the game.

Option Mission 1: Battleline

Option Mission 2: Meeting Engagement

Option Mission 3: Battle for the Pass
The back 6" of a table half is considered to only have line of sight of that deployment zone.

Option Mission 4: Room to Roam (Blood and Glory)
Control of a table quarter is worth 200 points.  Controlling MORE table quarters is worth 100 points. Control is determined by having more monsters or banners inside. [I have 3 monsters and 0 banners]

So no dawn attack mission and none of them that really effect what I will do.  Meeting Engagement could be interesting if I roll a 1 on the rat ogres, stranding my 3 characters.

Infernal Zoo - The List

Its time for some Monster smashing again.  This year I managed to convince the TO to allow limited special characters, those who are truly monster themed.  This allowed me to drop my triple brood horror of the past few years and bust out the Rat Ogre horde... which I haven't really played since 2011.  Its truly a horrible list.  To top it off, I decided to take a Vermin Lord as my monster contingent as this would give me the excuse I needed to paint one.  I'm super happy with how he turned out.

Warlord, GENERAL, Rat Ogre Bonebreaker, The Fellbade

Thrott the Unclean

Plague Priest, Great Pox Rat, Level 2 Wizard, Flail, Poisoned Attacks, Dispel Scroll

16 Rat Ogres, Master-Bred Rat Ogre, Squeel Gnawtooth, 4x Packmasters
5 Giant Rats, Packmaster
5 Giant Rats, Packmaster

Hell Pit Abomination
Hell Pit Abomination

Vermin Lord, 3x Plague, 1x Ruin

Simple list, no tricks.  Just shout Rawwg! and move forward.  I have 1400+ points in a  unit that has to over run.  Games will likely go - I charge chaff, get flanked and die.  But those games will go fast and will involve lots of dice, so fun.

All Caught Up

So I may have forgotten my hobby bag at work, and therefore be unable to work on anything today, but at least I got all my backlogged write ups posted.  Thats 15 posts (16 if you count this one) that will go throughout next month.  I still need to determine the October CoC missions and write a post for them.  Feeling much better about it, as the SAWS battle reports are from games I played in May (still the last games I've played) and have were written in June.

To end up the year I'll have at least 2 CoC mission reports (Oct and Dec), Infernal Zoo and NorthStar even reports, and maybe some more hobby reports.

Will be a lighter week

With other stuff to do at lunch this week I will not get much done. I'm hoping to get the shoulder sculpting done and the pads attached. Here is the first batch.

Friday Hobby Day

Super inefficient today in the hobby but still managed to get some stuff done.

Vermin lord got grass and is ready for infernal zoo.

Really happy with how the white fur turned out.

Finished putting segments on the characters.

Put arms on the rest of the troops. I expect I will have to redo some arms to make the shoulder pads fit properly.

First Set of Arms Done

Seems I can do 4 arms in a lunch period. Thats about 10 minutes an arm.

I probably wont update until they are all done. Friday or maybe monday. Need to get the other parts of this project organized.

I also still have normal battle report and mission stuff I need to get posted.

Arm Segments

Started cutting arm segments. Turns out I cut almost enough off of one stick.

Sorry for the blurry pic. Didnt realize it when I took it and it was all cut when I realized it.

Managed to get one arm glued before my lunch period was over. Cutting took a good amount of time so I expect to get more done tomorrow. I also added the shoulder blades to the characters which took some of my limited time.

This is the sort of thing im going for, though not fine-crap and I will probably make simplier hands.

Some detail work

Just a quick lunch time work period. Cleaned the flash on the rest of the shoulder pads to set up the upcoming assembly. Also out fur on the shoulders of the characters. Probably wouldnt have made an update, but I posed the characters with some foam to show an angle closer to how they will be based.

Remember, the brass is just for framing, though some will be allowed to show through. Tomorrow I will add the shoulder blades and begin to build up the legs.

Characters Started

I was so busy today that I didnt have time to switch out for another project so I took my Stormvermin for my 5 hobby hours. I decided to start on the characters. The brass rod will act as a framework over which I will build a more articulated structure. Sorry that I forgot to take in progress photos or pose them as the will be standing (on back legs, some grabbing as yet undesigned base parts. I think doing this will make the chaplain and sergeants stand out nicely.

Maybe back banners as well? That would make a good place for some freehand besides just squad markings on the shoulder pads.

Short Lunch

Only had 30 min to hobby today, but managed to get some arms on the flamers. Due to angles Im going to have to replace the hoses, but thats fine.

Have to decide what Ill work on tomorrow. Easy answer is Storvermin as they are already packed up.

Almost Ready to Burn

Got the flamers ready for assembly invluding reposting the left arms and cutting out parts of the flamer. Tomorrow I will break out the greenstuff and get these models assembled.

Nearly Ready For Assembly

Bit count to make sure im not off. Missing flamers, heads and the conversion parts for the backpack (only the three). Also shoulder pads, but I have those and they just need cleaning. Im going to worry about the heads after the rest of the model is assembled.

Deciding if I go with the boring Imperial Guard flamer or the cool Ork one. In the end decided the ork was just to large. Keep them for the dreads maybe.

Flamers cleaned of arms and mold lines (which they had a ton of).

Tomorrow the arms for the flamers and drill the barrel holes to finish them. Clean the shoulder pads as well if time.

Hopefully this week I will begin assembling model and figuring how much gap sculpting I will need. Also need to decide what Ill work on with my friday evening - these models, the dreads or the land raider.

Awesome Hobby Evening

Managed to get out to the shop tonight and scored 6 hours of painting time. Despite the migraine and nausea the evening was a total blast. I took my all spray white Vermin Lord and managed to get everything done but the base (and the two little rats on the base).

I know he wont be winning me any painting awards, but Im super happu with how he turned out. This guy has been sitting on my To Paint shelf for years. Im totallu going to be ready for the Infernal Zoo. Who knows, I might even get a practice game in now that my list will be done.

I hope to squeeze out the rest of the work (maybe 2 hours) this weekend. Monday its back to Blood Angels infantry.

Vermin Lord for the Vermin Lord

Infernal Zoo is coming up. This year they changed the rules a little and Ive decided to run a Vermin Lord instead of my double Brood Horrors.

My converted Lord had been assembled a long time ago but had never seen paint. So I sprayed him and discovered a bunch of mold lines I had missed. I then took him to work and cleaned him up.

And of course I worked on the Stormvermin some more, working to assemble the last 3 bodies. These guys got a little trim to fold the legs back. They will be given some future conversions to fix the fact that they can no longer stand as posed.

Short Week

Thanks to a lovely holiday this week is only 3 days (fridays are now Baby Day). The holiday also brought a 25% sale at Great Escape Games, my local shop. I went in and picked up the rest of the GW models I needed for my 1850 list. Ill still have plastic card, tubing and other stuff to pick up, but the bulk is now at my house.

For my list I needed over 20 dudes on foot plus a few as part of other models. I didnt have enough backup stormvermin so I picked up a other box.

3 assembled to join the others (exciting!)

3 unassembled. These will get some reposing of the legs and will become my chaplain and sergeants.

I also assembled the remaider of the weapons and arms that Ive been cleaning the past weeks.

This leaves me with just the 2 flamers left to make ready to attach to bodies.

And just for scale, here is a pic of one of the ork chain blades next to a stormvermin.
